Last Saturday I went shopping and bought some new watercolor paints. Did I need them? Not at all. But I most certainly wanted them, and they were on sale anyway so I felt justified in purchasing them. Ugh, I keep telling myself not to buy things I don’t need, but it keeps happening. As a wise man once said, “Women be shopping”.
Kvetching aside, these paints are incredible. They’re surprisingly pigmented, and pretty thick for watercolor paint which is nice. I’ve had some… pretty negative experiences with crappy watercolors (and crappy paint in general), so this is very refreshing. I don’t think I’ve ever used anything this ‘high quality’, so to speak. Most of the supplies I’ve used for my art have either been like, low-quality materials intended for children, and dollar-store bargain stuff. Not saying that inexpensive automatically equals ‘bad’, but it does feel nice to spoil myself using materials meant for more serious art rather than elementary school arts and crafts. (I sound like such a fucking snob holy shit.) So, long story short, expect more paintings from me here. I’m having a lot of fun and I don’t expect to stop painting anytime soon. Watercolors have always been my preferred medium when it comes to traditional art, and you can create some really cool things with them!

I like the way this one turned out, although I've never really drawn a cat like this before. Animals are difficult to draw.
