The Laconic Student's Dilemma is set in an alternate Earth where most of civilization was destroyed around the dawn of the 22nd century due to years of nuclear war, disease, starvation, and human stupidity. Humanity was forced to repeat itself, going from pre-historic times to the bronze age, then the medieval period, the Renaissance, and beyond.

Currently, it is the spring of the year 1990; it's more similar to 1990 A.D. than one would expect. The intenet is still in its infancy, and MTV is king. However, there are some anachronisms or inconsistencies in this new 1990-- some are intentional, such as Hong's long-favorite album being one that was released in 1996 or Anton having read The God Delusion (a book that came out in 2006) as a young boy. Some are also unintentional, because I was not alive in 1990. I cannot 100% accurately write a story taking place around that time as I was not there for it.

For Hong to be around 19 years of age in spring 1990, they would have been born in 1970, while for Anton to be 24, he would have been born in 1965. Despite the comic being set so far in the future, the 20th century experienced there is still very similar to the 20th century experienced in real life, down to fashion, technology, moral attitudes, etc. (Meaning Hong and Anton are your typical nonconformist Gen Xers.)

Thank you.
